George Herrera

Mr. George Herrera is currently an Independent Director of the Board of Directors of Travel & Leisure, Co., the world’s largest leisure vacation company, where he serves as Chairman of the Corporate Governance Committee and is also a member of the Audit Committee.  

From 2006-2021, Mr. Herrera served on the Board of Directors of Wyndham Worldwide Corporation, and Wyndham Destinations, the world’s largest hotel and hospitality company, serving as Chairman of the Corporate Governance Committee and member of the Audit Committee. 

 

Prior to joining the Wyndham Board, Mr. Herrera served as a member of the Board of Directors of the Cendant Corporation, having replaced former Secretary of Defense, William S. Cohen. Cendant was a Fortune 50 company, whose brands included; Wyndham Hotels, Avis Car Rental, Coldwell Banker, Century 21, Orbitz, Cheap Tickets, Jackson Hewitt.  

From 1998 thru 2004, Mr. Herrera served as President and CEO of the United States Hispanic Chamber of Commerce. During his tenure, Mr. Herrera created a $100 million private equity fund, named Hispania Capital Partners. The Fund was initially capitalized by a $5 million investment from Jaime Diamond, the then President of Bank One and a $10 million investment from the Verizon Corporation.  

From 1978 to 1998, Mr. Herrera served as President of Burgos and Associates, Inc., the country’s leading Hispanic woman-owned management and financial consulting firm, with ten 10 offices throughout the United States and 125 employees.  

Mr. Herrera was the Creator of the nationally syndicated television show “Hispanics Today,” which was viewed by more than 30 million viewers on NBC, CBS and ABC networks throughout the United States.  

In 2015, Mr. Herrera received the country’s highest honor for Hispanic American’s receiving the Lifetime Business Achievement Award, from the Hispanic Heritage Foundation. 

In 2002, Mr. Herrera was named a “FELLOW”, The Wharton Society of Fellows, Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania.
